Annie and the Bang Bang Release Show w/ Turn Turn Turn at Icehouse

Fronted and founded by fight director, songwriter and guitarist Annie Enneking, Annie and the Bang Bang are a Minneapolis rock band. A mood ring of music, they genre hop from dreamy folkpop to swampy psychedelic grooves to a grunge meets classic rock vibe, crafting musical gems that value energy, animal intelligence, poetry and mischief.

Annie believes songwriting is an act of spiritual archeology and so sifts through words to find bones of song, telling stories about being a person in a world full of people. She relies on the artistry, thick invention, and dig-right-down-into-it-ness of the Bang Bangs: the stacked chording and “just what the song wants” guitar of John Riedlinger, the lead-with-the-heart bass monster that is Kari Tweiten, and the heavy adventure and sharp-corner-turning drums of Mike Kittel

The band has found, over the years, a collaborative sweet spot — all members contribute song ideas, and all members have a similar work ethic: focus and joy in the making, fulfilled by connection and community in the delivering. Each member brings immense energy and commitment to the work, fueling the collective joy and success of the band. The communal experience of playing music with one another and for other people is the driving force of their passion and purpose.

Turn Turn Turn is a trio who bonded over their mutual love of close harmony 60s and 70s country, folk, and pop music and formed an original Americana band. To create their distinctive sound, the band “turns” to the distant past of early American recorded music, “turns” again to that renaissance of the 1960s and 1970s, and finally “turns” again to the present looking forward.

Members Adam Levy (guitar, vocals), Savannah Smith (guitar, vocals) and Barb Brynstad (bass, vocals) are all mainstays of the Minnesota music scene and together craft an infectious, pop-infused Americana.

Even though Turn Turn Turn was born as a cover band, the group's original material – sweetheart alt-country folk-pop  – quickly stole the spotlight.

Turn Turn Turn’s Laurel Canyon meets 70's-Nashville-cosmic soul vibe is layered with three-part harmonies that stitch the band’s musical tapestry together. Brynstad, Smith, and Levy have distinct voices, and the combination – a “fourth voice” – is greater than the sum of its parts.
