Mike Kota, Daphne Jane, Ava Levy & Emma Jeanne at Icehouse
Twin Cities’ rising indie artist Mike Kota is a twenty-five-year-old singer-songwriter, marked by haunting vocals, rock-influenced guitar, thoughtful lyrics and passionate performance.
The multi-instrumentalist and producer released her debut EP Rift in 2021, garnering attention from a wide audience, including Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran who described Mike as “artist who just blows you away”.
By January 2023, Mike appeared as one of First Avenue’s Best New Bands of 2022, and in May, Kota was opening for a sold out Hozier crowd on the First Ave mainstage.
Since Rift, Mike has released singles and collaborative works, while gigging locally, opening for an impressive roster of artists such as Homeshake, Shakey Graves, and Lucius.
Currently, Kota is in the process of wrapping and releasing her second EP Turning A Corner, the first in-studio recordings for the independent artist, which were paid for in part by her supporters via crowdfund.
Daphne Jane is a local indie pop artist originally from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Known for her story-telling lyrics and dreamy sound, Daphne has been writing music in her bedroom and playing gigs in her small town since she was 12 years old.
Daphne Jane has added a full band to the mix, playing at local twin cities music venues. In 2021, she released her album “I Wish I Was in the Clouds” followed by her EP “Dreamland” later that same year.
In 2022, Daphne Jane released two singles “Green” and “February.”
This past June, she released the lead single, “Months” to begin sharing her new project.
