Sam Cassidy with special guests Faith Boblett and Lanue
Minneapolis songwriter Sam Cassidy draws on the life of ordinary people as well as his own experiences to paint vivid pictures of struggle and joy, hard work and taking it easy. Pulling on influences from classics like Springsteen and Petty, as well as contemporaries like Laura Marling and Waxahatchee, his songs explore the grey area between right and wrong and try to examine what brings people to do the things they do. Backed by his sprawling band, The All Night Canyons, the live show is not to be missed.
Faith Boblett was named one of 2018's Best New Bands by First Avenue, and brings her own brand of pop, Americana, rock, and alt-country (aka she's "Minnesota's grungy Sheryl Crow" - Jordan Alamat).
Lanue is the latest project from Duluth, MN's Sarah Krueger. Lanue- a name culled from the title of a poem that found its way to Krueger from a thrift store shelf - is both a welcome departure and an anticipated return. In the self-titled LP, Krueger continues to amplify her knack for straightforward and earnest songwriting while maintaining a vocal delivery that sits like honey over layers of warm synths, guitars, and percussion. Ranging from confessional to nostalgic, each track is brightened by a lush lift while continuing to rest inside the framework of the folk tradition.
