Mother Banjo & Mikkel (St. Paul)

  • Midway Saloon 1567 University Avenue West Saint Paul, MN, 55104 United States (map)

Worker’s Playtime at the Midway Saloon featuring Mother Banjo

A weekly happy hour hosted by Mikkel, featuring a different artist every time.

Featuring Ellen Stanley on banjo and vocals, Mother Banjo is a New England-raised, Minneapolis-based songwriter. Called “an outstanding poet” (Inside Bluegrass), she was a Midwest Finalist for the prestigious NewSong Contest and has been featured nationally on SiriusXM Radio and CMT.com. Her new album Eyes on the Sky artfully mixes her signature blend of folk, bluegrass and soulful Americana that has become a hallmark of her live shows. Whether performing solo or with her award-winning band, she is an engaging performer that brings a playful energy to the stage even when singing the saddest of songs. More info, music and videos at www.motherbanjo.com.

Mikkel Beckmen (washboard, wooden tray, and stomp box) has been a fixture on the Twin Cities scene for a number of years; some of the folks he's played with include the Brass Kings, Charlie Parr, Lonesome Dan Kase & the Crush Collision Trio, and Corpse Reviver.
