Mary Bue + Sonja Rebecca Martin (Minneapolis)

  • Aster Cafe 125 Southeast Main Street Minneapolis, MN, 55414 United States (map)

Mary Bue + Sonja Rebecca Martin at the Aster Cafe

Join Mary Bue for an intentionally romantic, slightly anti-Valentine’s, elegant and crass stripped down set featuring violin by Shannon Frid-Rubin and upright bass with Sean Roderick (Red Hot Django Peppers).

Mary Bue is a songwriter, international retreat guide and yoga teacher based out of Minneapolis, often roaming this beautiful world. Named Best Songwriter of 2020 by City Pages, her music touches upon archetypal themes of the human condition: love, loss, survival, dreams, and the natural world. A longtime student of yoga and psychology, Mary weaves sacred subject matter into her songs, seeking of deeper levels of consciousness, and concern for the environment mixed into oft-crass, real-world hue. Mary is currently working on her 9th album The Wildness of Living and Dying to be released in spring 2024.

Sonja Rebecca Martin is a singer/songwriter from Duluth, MN. She and her husband Lee Martin co-founded the folk group Feeding Leroy and have been writing and singing with the band since 2013. Sonja’s love of folk music has been influenced by women such as Gillian Welch, Kate Wolf, Sandy Denny and Linda Rondstadt among others. She loves to harmonize with other voices and find those close weavings of harmonies that you can feel in your bones.
