SPRIG OF THAT with The Boston Imposters and Bad Posture Club at the Cedar

A triple bill of some of the region's finest acoustic artists featuring the inspired SPRIG OF THAT trio and supporting duo sets from The Boston Imposters and Bad Posture Club.

SPRIG OF THAT

Serendipity, a mutual friend, and a shared love of string band music brought Sprig of That together in Minneapolis in January of 2018. Since then, the trio, comprising Krissy Bergmark on tabla, Isabel Dammann on violin, and Ilan Blanck on guitar, has made a name for themselves performing lush original works and fresh arrangements of folk favorites that have delighted audiences across the country. Occupying a space somewhere between Northern European fiddle styles, modern American string music, and the “indie classical” contemporary classical movement, the trio distills a wide range of musical interests into a cohesive and joyful sound that is constantly evolving.

THE BOSTON IMPOSTERS

The Boston Imposters are a husband-wife singer-songwriter duo based in Southeast Wisconsin. Davey Harrison and Maire (pronounced like Mary) Clement began collaborating many years prior, but their duo was officially founded during their time living as Midwestern Impostors in Boston. The duo blend beautiful harmonies, accompanied by acoustic guitar, mandolin, and banjo to craft heartfelt original songs. Inspired by traditional, classic and contemporary folk music, The Boston Imposters write about their lives and experiences, inspired by the people who have been a part of their journey.

BAD POSTURE CLUB

Bad Posture Club is a Minneapolis-based folk duo made up of Maren Day and Morgan Kavanagh. Their songwriting explores themes of home-places, landscapes, memory, family, and the strange relationship between human softness and the unyielding societal structure we both participate in, and push against. When reinterpreting traditional folk songs, they care out space and agency for queer female voices. Drawing the listener in with intricate vocal harmony, Bad Posture Club creates intimacy and warmth, inviting togetherness in song.
